Bruce The Sagacious

It is important to read and interact with children, but I believe many young parents feel the same way I do,.. if I have to read Elmo goes potty one more time, I might flush it down the toilet! This is why we grabbed a flashlight and started talking to a hand puppet.

Bruce was created to make bedtime interesting. With a flashlight and our imagination, we use objects in the room to make up stories, go on adventures, ask questions, explain things, while learning together. The best was the first time our flashlight went missing. My daughter asked, “Dad, can we talk to Bruce?” I responded loudly with a terrible British accent, “No, Bruce is galavanting in a park somewhere!” Even in Bruce’s absence, we found a way to talk about exciting things she never new of. We even looked up galavant on dictionary.com to make sure I was using the work correctly.

SAGACIOUS: Having or showing acute mental discernment and keen practical sense. A keen sense of perception.

Shapes, colors, letters, numbers, these are all crucial for a developing mind, but not more important than imagining. Truthfully, I enjoy doing this to the extent that I thought, what if there was a way to do this while making it entertaining and educational for the child and the reader? I think there is, and I hope to make this available soon. Our first goal is to publish a book electronically. From there, who knows.

Check out our progress on Bruce The Sagacious at BruceSaga.com. We’ll be showing some of the ways we are creating images for the first round of stories. There is a lot of work to do, but I am looking forward to it!
